How to use Marseille Soap & Recipes
MARSEILLE SOAP BARS
FACE, OILY SKIN
Marseille soap, with a ph higher than that of the skin, is ideal for skin prone to excess sebum. It deeply cleanses the skin and eliminates impurities embedded in the pores. Afterwards, moisturize with your usual day care.
SENSITIVE SKIN
Dermatologists recommend Marseille soap as the allergen-free product par excellence. Choose an authentic formulation with 0% chemical additives, fragrances, colorants and preservatives.
SHAVING SOAP
Lathering Marseille soap to the max produces a natural, hypoallergenic shaving foam. Apply your usual after-shave care for comfortable skin.
NAIL HYGIENE
For perfect nail hygiene, use a nail brush, soap and a bowl of water. Melt the soap in a bowl of water in the microwave. Soak your fingers in the mixture for a few minutes, then use the brush to remove any dirt under your nails. Hot water softens cuticles, so take the opportunity to push them back with a boxwood stick.
MAKE-UP BRUSHES AND SPONGES
Marseille soap's grease-removing power makes it ideal for deep cleansing and removing foundation and powder residues. Its gentle formula enables regular maintenance without damaging delicate brush bristles.
STUBBORN STAINS
As a general rule, rub dry stains and shirt collars and cuffs with moistened soap before machine or hand washing. For tougher stains, follow the same procedure, but leave for a few hours before washing.
WASHING-UP LIQUID
Marseille soap is very practical for washing dishes. Rub your sponge over the Marseille soap, then polish your dishes. As it contains no surfactants, Marseille soap lathers very little, but this doesn't mean it's any less effective.
IRON
Regularly clean the soleplate of an iron that has become dirty or yellow by rubbing with a piece of dry soap when the soleplate is warm. Wipe with a soft dry cloth or a ball of newspaper to shine the surface.
MATTRESS
To keep your mattress fresh and clean, simply wipe the surfaces to be cleaned with a washcloth moistened with Marseille soap. Then rinse with a clean water-soaked washcloth and leave to dry all day.
LEATHER SOFA
Apply Marseille Soap to a moistened, well-wrung washcloth or rag, then lightly massage the leather in circular motions. Dry with a clean cloth. This cleaning will make the leather supple and long-lasting.

Where's nothing like Marseille soap for washing and degreasing walls and ceilings. Dilute a handful of soap shavings in a bucket of hot water. Clean with a sponge broom and rinse with clean water.
STROLLERS, CHILDCARE EQUIPMENT
Hypoallergenic, Marseille soap is ideal for caring for childcare equipment such as strollers. Machine-wash removable covers with a detergent made from Marseille soap shavings. For non-removable covers, wash with a sponge dampened with soap. For stubborn, odorous stains, rub with soap and a little baking soda, leave for a few hours to loosen the dirt, then rinse. Let dry thoroughly in the open air.
WOOD DECK
Regularly rid your deck of mold, dirt and pollution accumulated over months by washing it down with a brush, a basin of hot water and a handful of diluted soap shavings. This simple, effective cleaning will help maintain your terrace over time.
SHOWER GEL
In a saucepan, heat 1L of water over low heat and add 20g of Marseille soap shavings. Stir the shavings until the Marseille soap has completely dissolved. Turn off the heat and continue stirring for a few minutes. Once cooled, add 1 tbsp olive or coconut oil and 1 tbsp honey. Shake well before use.
SHAVING CREAM FOR LEGS
In a saucepan, melt 250g Marseille soap shavings in 50cl hot water and add 2 tsp coconut oil and 2 tsp sweet almond oil. Leave to cool until the paste hardens. Apply to areas to be shaved. After shaving, moisturize skin with your usual body care product.
EXFOLIATING SOAP
In a container, pour 100ml of water over 200g of Marseille soap shavings and melt over a bain-marie in a saucepan until you obtain a fluid, homogeneous mixture. Off the heat, add 4 tbsp olive oil, 100g honey and 4 tbsp coffee grounds. Mix with a spatula. Pour the hot mixture into small silicone molds. Leave to harden for 5 days. Unmold, and leave to dry in a ventilated, dry place for at least 1 week.
DENTIFICATION
For the more adventurous, apply a little Marseille soap to your toothbrush and brush your teeth. For those who have difficulty with taste, you can also mix 2 tablespoons of water with 20g of Marseille soap shavings and add 2 drops of peppermint essential oil.
